Chigong captures our heart

A martial art from a 5000 year old Chinese culture is stablishing a connection with citizens.

An effective combination of nourishing movements, Zhineng Chigong is an internal Chinese meditative practice incorporating the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and the various types of martial arts.

Established by Dr Pang Ming in China, it is a self-healing and self-cultivation practice.
Qi (“Chi”) means “air” or the vital energy that inhabits all living things. Gong (“Kung”) means study or discipline of various exercises or techniques. Together, Qi Gong (“Chi Kung”) means the study of energy.

According to KV Subramanyan, Zhineng Chigong master, Zone Mind and Body, it’s a perfect science of the complete trio “Prana”, “Chi”, and “Qi” (life, energy and air).
“It is about cultivating intelligent energy; a process of projection energy healing. It caters to the direct connection of the chakras of life, to “Hun Yan Chi” which is Universal energy,” says Subramanyan.

“It’s a semi-meditative state and is also called the Chinese Silk Weaving exercise because of its slow movements. Qi passes through the organs of the body as well as the various meridians as defined in acupuncture. The student also learns to  connect with the cosmic energy of the universe. With regular practice, the student learns to feel and then direct this vital energy,” adds Subramanyan.

Zhineng Qigong consists of three forms – static, dynamic and spontaneous; and three stages – External Hun Yuan, Internal Hun Yuan and Central Hun Yuan.

“Zhineng Chigong has won many hearts all around the world as it has the essence of both Taoism and old Chinese medical tradition,” says Subramanyan.

A safe, easy to learn, and injury-free exercise, it is good for any age, and its first and most important benefit is elimination of disease.

As it works on the entire energy structure of the body, it is effective in treating not only physical but also emotional and mental disorders.

“This practice caters to prevention rather than cure and mainly focuses on visualisation. The “cosmic chi” (eternal energy) is genuinely effective as it has treated many people who suffered paralytic attacks and heart strokes,” says Subramanyan.

“It is about healing others and donating energy,” he adds. As a science of the natural laws and evolution of the living matter, Qigong reflects the close inner relations between man and the natural world. It has undergone centuries of research, tests and verifications, and is an unshakable and complete method for self-regulation and refinement.

“Zhineng Qigong is the foundation of the well-known Tai Chi practice, and, in some cases, it’s even more effective than Yoga. It is especially beneficial for senior citizens, although it is practiced by people of all ages, even children. It’s about mind over matter,” he says.

For Andrew Liu, a student of Subramanyan, life has changed post-Chigong: “Constant practice of Zhineng Chigong has brought integration into my mind and body. Both my temperament and outlook on life have changed. It has become more of a spiritual connection then physical.”
