Sugahara said he bought the car new in 1973, and it has been a dependable ride ever since. “I like this car,” he said. “It hardly ever breaks down. This is the original paint job.” While he may do most of his driving in his other car, the Super Beetle gets good gas mileage tooling around town. “Saves gas,” he said.
